I’ve been a working artist/illustrator for 12 years and counting. I am lucky to be the daughter of an award-winning painter and children’s book illustrator (Tim Ladwig), and have spent my entire life under his guidance and teaching. I took 3 years of classes at the school of illustration, animation, and design at KU beginning in 2020.
I am of the mind that learning and rigorously practicing our craft is a never-ending, life-long process. I want excellence in our craft to be accessible, easeful, challenging, and pleasurable. I want art making to be something that liberates us and connects us to our intuition.
Private Drawing & Watercolor Painting Lessons for Ages 7-103
Drawing and watercolor painting lessons are in-person only (I’m based in Lawrence, Kansas) and will begin in June 2024.
-Skill building: Learning drawing and painting techniques, understanding color, value, and line. Training the eye/hand connection. Building a consistent, meditative, dedicated practice in and outside of class in order to reach personal milestones and goals.
-Play: Learning to let go of our tendencies toward perfectionism by exploring what lights us up and simply creating creating creating without expectations or predetermined outcomes. Inviting FLOW into the process.
-Inspiration: Discovering the artists living and dead who move us and using their work as a launching place into our own unique style and magic. Building an artist lineage that we draw wisdom from gives us a frame of reference for what’s possible. There are infinite ways to do a thing!
